Ontario is developing a Biomass and Forestry Action Plan to sustainably grow the sector and create jobs for local communities in the north. The PWU recommends that the Atikokan GS be included in the plan as a possible accelerator of the action plan’s goals. The importance to the area of the biomass fueled Atikokan GS is growing from the need to provide low-carbon electricity and to anchor the jobs in the low-carbon local biomass and forestry economy.
